Adsorption Dehumidifiers
Adsorption air dehumidifiers are devices designed for moisture removal that operate on a unique principle, using a material to adsorb moisture from the air—unlike condensation dehumidifiers, which function through cooling. Dehumidification is achieved by passing air through a honeycomb-structured rotor impregnated with an adsorbent such as silica gel. This rotor continuously rotates and traps water vapor.
When the silica gel in the rotor absorbs moisture, it eventually becomes saturated. Therefore, the rotor is in constant rotation, passing into a regeneration zone where heated air flows through the rotor to remove the adsorbed moisture, which is then expelled from the system. The moisture from the adsorption rotor is transferred into a separate heated airstream to release the moisture. Finally, the moist exhaust air is discharged outside via ductwork. This process is repeated continuously to ensure stable dehumidification.
Key Advantages
Adsorption dehumidification in industrial installations is highly effective, with a very high moisture removal capacity and excellent energy efficiency, consuming less electric power compared to other dehumidification methods like condensation. This results in significantly reduced energy costs.
Its simple design minimizes maintenance requirements and takes up less space. Additionally, adsorption dryers are reliable, robust, compact, and offer modular configurations, enabling a wide range of industrial applications.
Benefits and Key Features:
- Highly effective at very low humidity levels, especially in environments below 40% RH. This technology is ideal when ultra-dry air with a low dew point is needed.
- Efficient dehumidification at low temperatures – Perfect for cold spaces where condensation-based units lose efficiency.
- Achieves extremely low dew points – Can reach dew points as low as -60°C, ensuring a dry environment for specialized applications.
- Continuous, uninterrupted operation – Ideal for environments requiring constant humidity control.
- Economical heat recovery systems – The Recusorb principle recovers heat released during rotor regeneration using the incoming regeneration air stream, reducing energy consumption. Exhaust air has lower temperature and humidity, improving overall energy efficiency.
- Corrosion resistance and durability – Special materials and design ensure stable operation even under aggressive industrial conditions. Stainless steel casing available for small and medium units.
- Precise humidity control – Multiple control and management options enable humidity adjustment to meet specific needs while maximizing energy savings.
- Modularity and adaptability – Systems can be customized to suit various industrial needs by configuring additional options.
- Configurable regeneration heaters – Units can be equipped with electric, natural gas, LPG, steam, or hot water heaters—or combinations of these.
- Complete humidity and temperature control system – Integrated output temperature control reduces overall energy use in air handling systems.
- Advanced control systems for high-capacity models – Options are tailored to customer requirements and can be configured for communication with higher-level systems via Modbus or other protocols.
Mobile Condensation Dehumidifiers
Condensation dehumidifiers remove moisture from air quickly and efficiently by cooling the air below its dew point, causing condensation. The system consists of a fan, compressor, heat exchanger, and expansion element. Humid air passes through an evaporator where it is cooled, and moisture condenses into water droplets, collected in a tank or drained via pump. The dried air then passes through a condenser, where it is reheated to reduce its relative humidity further before being recirculated. This provides stable operating conditions and protects industrial equipment.
Operating Considerations:
- Performance depends on operating conditions – Efficiency is influenced by temperature, relative humidity, and device specifications.
- Optimal working conditions – Best suited for areas where temperature is not too low and where relative humidity needs to be maintained at 55–60% RH or higher.
- Decreased efficiency – As air moisture content drops, the efficiency decreases.
- Limited performance at low temperatures – Generally not recommended for use in environments below 0–5°C.
Typical Applications:
- Construction industry – Helps dry building materials, preventing mold growth and speeding up finishing work.
- Warehouses and production facilities – Maintains optimal storage conditions and protects equipment from corrosion.
- Basements and enclosed spaces – Reduces condensation and prevents mold and mildew.
- Pools and wellness centers – Prevents condensation and improves air quality in high-humidity areas.
